Requirements Analysis

The registration and resolution policy can/should be understood as two contracts:

  1. Among the set of "root" servers for each Domain Registry (community).
  2. Between every subscriber of a recursive name server and the subscribed root server community.

Purpose (#2):

The Domain Resolution Policy governs the local selection of mappings (as supplied by Domain Registries currently in use) from Names to Identifiers.

Requirements Analysis

It should be possible to establish any set of trust-based communities according to personal preferences. Each member will be legal body (either an individual or an organization) running a DNS server. Members would certificate each other (in WOT-style). New members would be approved by consensus of the communities they want to join.
